NYE

melbourne

Suddenly it’s New Years Eve…. working two jobs seems to make the time pass faster than ever. So… only 23 days to go!  I’m not sure if I’m excited or upset to be leaving….  Also a little nervous I won’t find time to get all the things done that need doing.

New Years Eve here is interesting as usual, its only 7:30 and already there is a naked guy standing on a balcony near us sipping beer.   Very, very strange.  Bet (hope) that doesn’t happen in Tokyo.

I have added some Melbourne photos to this page, mainly because I want to add some photos, but also to compare to our Tokyo photos later~

45 days…

This could make for 44 more uninteresting post titles… Saves me thinking for the moment though.

I’m beginning to get nervous about our move…

An ugly little man got on my tram the other morning.  He was following a pretty young Japanese girl he had clearly just met.

Despite all her efforts to look completely uninterested in anything he had to say, he continued to rabbit on in her ear throughout the trip.  My heart began to sink when he said “I lived in japan for two years”, and then “I worked for [insert my future employer’s name here]”.

NOOoooo. I was aware of the potential for such a place to employ people of below average… skills, but this guy was pretty… below average.  These are the colleages I have to look forward to?

He really showed his cultural depth when he asked Miss Japan if she knew of any Japanese restaurants in Melbourne.  He was blown away when she said she worked in one in Smith Street, towards which we were approaching, as he knew “there’s one in Oakley…”

He knows there is a Japanese restaurant in Oakley?  Where has this guy been living?   Has he left the house since he got back?  How is it possible to be unaware of all but one Japanese restaurant in Melbourne?

Clearly living abroad doesn’t necessarily make one any more worldly.

47 Days to go

Tiam suggested I start counting down days, clever girl.  (I’m happy for any excuse to add another post to my pretty new blog)

**~Only 47 days until we move to Tokyo~**

…scared now.

Scared but excited too!

I’ll just concentrate on the excited, then I’ll be ok.

Apartment is booked, tickets are booked, just waiting for Wotif.com to start listing Tokyo hotels… hehe.  Fingers crossed!
