About

I started this blog when my husband, Patrick, and I decided we didn’t have enough reasons not to be enjoying ourselves as much as possible and seeing more of the world, so we moved to Tokyo.

Most of our friends are being responsible, working real jobs, having children and paying off mortgages… it just doesn’t seem attractive to us yet.

After 6 months in Tokyo, we got itchy feet again, and have moved to China… don’t know yet what is next.

We sometimes feel a little guilty about not buying property and sticking to our careers, but more often than not we spend our days dreaming up our next destination.

I am not sure I have ever heard anyone say “If only I hadn’t travelled so much”, so at the moment this is our excuse. I think it is quite a good one.

We do often feel guilty about all our stuff in storage. That is a little mean of us. Sorry.

I wish I was a talented writer, photographer or illustrator, but I am not. I hope one day I can at least give the impression I am.

I’m originally from Melbourne, Australia, and the lovely Patrick from Hefei, China.

I studied Psychophysiology, and got to the point of about a year into my PhD before deciding there’s lots of other stuff to be done in the world still that involves much less hard work.  I might get back to it later.

Patrick is an athlete, a runner.  1,500m.  Lucky for me, because it means I can drag him about wherever I go, and he can still do what he does.

In case anyone came to wonder what lijunlaopo actually means, Li Jun is Patrick’s Chinese name, and Lao Po is ‘wife’ in Chinese.

This started as a hotmail address to irritate Patrick with it’s cuteness, but has stuck due to my complete inability to be original when it comes to screen names.
