Champion Bunny

Patrick won his second competition this afternoon, I think he might be getting a little tired of all this easy winning.  His next competition should be next week some time, possibly he could run backwards just to spice it up a little.

On the way to school this morning it was horribly muggy and uncomfortable.  I was already much too warm and flustered by the time I reached the station.

Unfortunately I discovered later it only reached 21 degrees today.  It definately didn’t feel like 21 degrees.  I am going to die when summer really comes.

I did manage to avoid another Childrens class today which was a rather close call.  I made a little bit of a fuss in doing so though, and it brought attention to the fact that I never teach any kids.   I think I might have to start doing some kids teaching to keep the all-powerful ones happy.  Scary, scary thought.

There is one small kinder age child that never speaks, just cries on occasion, so I may try that class first.

We have convinced Michael to move into our building next month, so we gave him a tour of Yoyogi after work this evening.  We looked forward all week to taking him to our previously favourite barbecue restaurant for dinner, but we were refused a table upon their sighting our not so Japanese looking faces.  A little disappointing.

Luckily we were warmly accepted into our favourite Chinese restaurant around the corner so we happily stuffed our faces there for a total bill of under $40.

We were supposed to go and watch a baseball game this evening, but completely forgot until it was too late.  Bugger.  Time goes too quickly here to get anything organised sufficiently.

I have discovered another excellent thing about my schedule.  If someone works from Monday to Friday, they work all the way from the beginning of the week (Monday) to the end of the week (Friday).  On my schedule, however, I work only from the end of the week (Friday) to the beginning of the week (Tuesday).

Sounds much less!  Lucky me.

Football

Saitama StadiumWe went to watch the football again this evening, this time it was an AFC Champions League game, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds vs. Shanghai Shenhua.

Patrick and I were thinking of cheering for Shanghai, but decided against it for safety’s sake. Actually it turned out that it was much more fun to sing along with the 28 thousand Japanese fans instead.

The stadium was one built for the 2002 World Cup, so it was really impressive. We pretended a little we had World Cup tickets and it was all the more exciting.

I have never heard such a loud crowd, I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like in a real World Cup match…

Guilt SMS

Shibuya 109I should have known Patrick was up to something when he sent me a second “I love you” SMS for the day.

He had been shopping in the afternoon, and bought himself some new running pants and a new cap.

I was going to buy him the cap as a surprise anyway, so really he has just done himself out of a nice surprise.

I told Patrick afterwards that now I know that the second SMS he sent was just a guilt SMS. He insisted it wasn’t a guilt message, but a ‘comfort’ message. Hmm.

Luckily, as well as sending comfort messages, Patrick is clever enough to agree to walk me home after work if he has done something bad, so we have walked home nearly every day this week.

The 109 building in Shibuya looked extra cute in it’s decorations this evening, so we took some photos on the way home.

We are going to watch a Tokyo VS Shanghai football game tomorrow. We are going to sing and clap loudly for Shanghai.

Hope we don’t get beaten up!

Picnic

Palace PicnicWe went to watch the Japan vs Syria under 22s football last night. So much fun clapping a long to all the football fan songs.

Australia needs some better fan songs… ‘F**k off you wankers” just isn’t as fun to clap along to.

The Japanese team won easily thanks, I’m sure, to all our clapping and singing.

Today we visited the Imperial Palace East gardens to see cherry blossoms and eat lunch. We bought some lovely boxed snacks from Daimaru food court at Tokyo station and enjoyed our lunch overlooking the Imperial Palace Garden pond.

After the gardens closed, we walked back through Ginza and to the Sony building where we played with all the latest gadgets, then we napped on the train all the way home.

Good day.
