Coffee in Shinjuku
We went out for coffee with Michael again this evening, and did our usual walk about feeling disappointed with the general selection of cafes available.
If we are willing to pay $5 per latte, then there are a handful of places to choose from. We do tend to think $5 is a little pricey and a handful is still not enough.
I so miss Melbourne cafes.
We settled on Starbucks eventually, as at least the coffee is reasonably priced, and they had some outdoor seating that meant we could feel a little like we weren’t actually in Starbucks.
I have been eating everything Azuki (small red bean) flavoured this month, and Starbucks has introduced an iced azuki bean drink to their menu. It tastes just like a big Haagen-Dazs Azuki milk ice-cream, so is my new treat of the month.
After sitting over our drinks too long, we decided on a snack at Watami, the chain restaurant here we actually do appreciate. Despite the fact that it was so smoky we couldn’t actually see each other, the food and service were as good as always.

It is nice to be able to see how people lead their daily lives in other places, it is often suprising.
