Hanami

Nakameguro HanamiWe saw even MORE cherry blossoms today. My favourites so far.

We went to Nakameguro with Miki and Jason and a couple of other running friends. We walked up and down the river with the most amazing Cherry Blossoms lining either side. There were lovely little lanterns strung all the way down the river as well. We ate dinner in a restaurant along the river’s edge and all the while petals could float in the windows where we sat.

Now that they have come to the end of their season, Patrick has almost worked out what they are called. He has been like the sign outside Faulty Towers this past week.

He began by telling me he thought the ‘helicopters’ were lovely. …helicopters?

I soon worked out what he meant and corrected him. He was a little closer when he called the blossoms “Harry Potters” a bit later in the day.

Today he was much closer, and can now say “Cherry Bottoms” most of the time. Jason told me he had been calling them either “Cherry Bottoms” or “Cherry Bosoms” all day, which Jason thought was very amusing.

My favourite so far was the “Curry Bottoms.” Ahh, I hope Patrick’s vocabulary never improves beyond the point of a few Patrick-isms every now and then.

But, it doesn’t matter that he speaks like a Faulty Towers sign, cos Patrick is FAST! He won his competition today even though he wasn’t trying. AND he broke the record. Go Bunny!!

He was instantly surrounded by university coaches trying to poach him, but as he can’t speak Japanese, he isn’t eligible to enrol anywhere. Bugger.
