Happy Valentine
I worked at a different branch today. It was much easier than working at my usual branch, far less hectic. I had to change trains though, so that gave me nightmares…
I managed to find my way there and back nicely anyway - albeit via two different routes unintentionally… So now I know the trains here aren’t as difficult as I had initially thought, but can appreciate being so close to my usual workplace.
One thing that I do find I like about the commute here is the music that is played when the trains arrive. Each station seems to have its own jingly soundtrack that plays merrily while the doors are open at the station. I’m not sure of it’s purpose, I think its to warn the doors will close soon, but it’s quite amusing and I have grown to like it.
The other place I have noticed jangly tunes is the walk signal for the blind at pedestrian crossings. Far more interesting than a series of fast or slow pips, almost makes you want to dance across the street…..
We need more musical things in Melbourne.
I am not sure if the music could be classified as cute, but things here are definately cuter than home. I’m always glad to be surrounded by cuteness, so its lovely for me. I do wonder if it gets on others’ nerves sometimes, and how it might affect company reputations at times.
Recruitment companies, telcos, department stores, pharmacies and even healthcare providers have lovely baby animals as their mascot, incorporated proudly into their logos and advertising. Apparently NOVA’s enrolment rates shot up after they introduced the pink mascot bunny.
I cant imagine Melbourne Health, David Jones or Holden introducing an adorable piglet as their latest sales weapon…. It just wouldn’t go down so well at home….
Anyway… All the cuteness here makes it easy for me to buy lovely things for Patrick like boxes of chocolates with fuzzy baby bees on, ready for me to steal as soon as he is not paying attention.
Patrick is a clever, clever bunny though. He bought me chocolates for valentines day AND remembered that I wanted a memory card for my phone so he bought me one too ~ even I had forgotten I wanted a memory card for my phone.
He is a very good husband when he forgets to not let it show.
He even made me a video of himself while he was waiting for me to get home. He was waiting in a cafe so looks very shifty and embarrased throughout, very lovely.
