Just food again. Oh, and an earthquake

We had dinner with Michael this evening in Shinjuku.  We went to the sushi bar as he hasn’t tried sushi before.  It seems all the little plates of raw seafood travelling by is a little overwhelming for someone trying sushi for the first time so we didn’t stay too long.

We went afterwards to Shin-Okubo as I wanted to see somewhere new and to buy some Korean groceries.  Shin-Okubo is Tokyo’s ‘Koreatown’.

I managed to find the groceries I was after and we discovered a few interesting supermarkets along the way.  Patrick’s keen eye for anything food-related then spotted a Chinese restaurant with dog on the menu, so we herded Michael in there to continue his evening of interesting foods.

We didn’t end up ordering dog, but Michael bravely tried the barbecued marrow and seemed to quite enjoy the meal.

The food was Jilin cuisine, so had the barbecue skewers I really loved from the street vendors in Hefei.  Yum.

Once again I forgot to grab a business card, so I will have to go back again to keep my personal restaurant listing up to date.

I felt another earth tremor when we got home this evening.  Patrick didn’t feel this one either.  I don’t know what is wrong with him.  It seemed to last ages and despite my sitting right next to him and saying “can you feel that??!!!” and looking scared, he had no idea what was happening.

When I pointed out my handbag bobbing around happily in the corner by itself he was only just convinced I wasn’t entirely imagining it.
