Slow days

kitkat

I am enjoying a melon flavoured KitKat as I sit and think of something to post. I have never liked KitKats that much but was eventually lured into buying one by the ever-increasingly odd flavours they release here.I almost bought the cherry blossom KitKats in spring, just because of the pretty pink packaging, but resisted. I wasn’t tempted by the green tea flavour, or whatever it was after that, but the kiwi fruit and cantaloupe flavours broke me this evening.

Other than the KitKat, the day has not been so thrilling. The humidity here in Summer makes it difficult to get motivated to do much.

We realised a little too late that today is our 3.5 year wedding anniversary, and we should have booked our room at the Hyatt for today to celebrate. Instead we indulged in dinner from the convenience store in front of the computer. Very romantic. We might have to book for later in the week and just pretend it’s the 2nd again.

We at least managed to confirm and pay for our flight to Shanghai, so we didn’t entirely waste the day. We’ll be leaving on the 18th, little more than two weeks away.

We’re so excited about getting back to Hefei and seeing our new apartment that it’s a little difficult to focus on what we want to do here. Judging by how quickly the last six months has flown, we had better get ourselves sorted quickly before it’s time to leave.

I’m hoping we can take advantage of some of the foreigner-only package deals for domestic travel here, as the costs are half that of the packages for residents. It would be a pity to leave without having seen Kyoto.

toastWe still haven’t bothered to drag ourselves out of bed early to try breakfast at the cafe I discovered nearby recently, we are useless at early mornings. We did wander down to Pronto for brunch the other day, and I had maybe the oddest bit of toast I have ever seen.

As we sat and drank our juice and coffee to the soothing background of Jazz, I wondered who had thought to decorate each little piece of toast with monster-face shaped bacon bits… A cheerful and unexpected addition to my brunch.
