Time Flies

It is already the middle of May. Considering how quickly the time passes, and that we plan to leave Tokyo by the end of September, we don’t an awful lot of time left here.

I don’t quite know how to feel about that. I know I will be well and truly, 100% over work by then, and have been looking forward to seeing Hefei again, though I think I am going to really miss Tokyo.

One of the reasons I like Tokyo is that it is not my home, and it is not Patrick’s home, but now it is becoming our home equally. This is nice for a change.

I occasionally search for other jobs, but then decide I would feel guilty about taking any leave soon after starting - if it even was possible… I guess if we wanted to stay, it might be possible to line up work for when we return from China…

I then remember how many other places there are to see and how many other things there are to do and feel like we are spending too much time here and should be moving on to the next place already…

I think spending just a little time in each place makes us appreciate our everyday life and our every experience more. If I know I have only a limited number of weekends here, I will spend every single one doing something valuable and interesting. In contrast, having plenty of time makes it too easy to become accustomed to the things we used to be grateful for and just put all our plans off until later.

I am adding this to my list of excuses as to why Patrick and I refuse to become responsible.
